About Pest Management
Spot it early
Check the undersides of leaves every few days with a loupe. Spider mite shows as fine speckling on the leaf and later webbing; thrips leave silver streaks; sciarid flies run across the surface of the pot. Yellow sticky traps catch the flying stages and tell you what you have before it becomes a problem.
What we stock
SB Plant Invigorator is a physical-action spray for aphids, whitefly, spider mite and mildew that pests can't build resistance to. CannaCure and Optic Foliar Atak are leaf sprays for pests and powdery mildew; Athena IPW is a concentrated plant wash for the same job. Dr Hydro Spidermite targets mites directly. Hotbox Sulfume vaporises sulphur to keep mildew and mites down in a whole room, and Insecto Fumer smoke bombs fumigate an empty room or greenhouse between crops. Desi Dust is diatomaceous earth for crawling pests, and the Garden HighPro Pumpro sprayer gets any of the liquids onto the leaves evenly.
Prevention
Quarantine new plants, keep the floor and trays clean, run a bug barrier on the intake and keep humidity out of the mildew zone. Most outbreaks arrive on a cutting or a pair of shoes.
