Choosing a kit

Size by tent. Work out the volume in cubic metres and multiply by 30 to 60 for the m³/h you need; as a guide, 100 or 125mm suits tents up to 80cm, 150mm a 100 to 120cm tent, 200mm a 150cm tent and 250 to 315mm for bigger rooms. Every kit pairs a filter rated above the fan, so smell is dealt with at any speed. The full method is in how to size an extraction fan and carbon filter.

Rhino Pro filters carry premium carbon and a two-year working life; Rhino Hobby is the lighter, cheaper filter for smaller rooms and shorter runs. Acoustic ducting cuts the noise of moving air and is worth it in a bedroom or an attached room; combi ducting is the sturdier budget choice.

Fitting

Filter at the top of the tent, fan next to it or outside the tent, ducting as short and straight as you can. Add a fan speed controller from Environment and Fan Speed Controllers to turn the kit down at night.
