About Propagators
Heated or unheated?
An unheated propagator keeps humidity in, which is what cuttings need most. Add bottom heat in a cold room or in winter: seeds germinate faster and cuttings root sooner at a steady 20 to 25°C. The Garland XL High Dome has the headroom for taller cuttings and the heat for early starts.
Using a propagator
Vent the lid a little each day so air moves and mould doesn't take hold, and open the vents wider as roots form to harden the young plants off. A T5 or LED propagation light close above the lid gives even, gentle light without heat; you will find them under Propagation Lighting.
The Jiffy Botanian kit is a complete starter set of peat-free pots, tray and lid, ready for seeds on a windowsill.
