About Inline Fans
Sizing a fan
Work out the tent's volume in cubic metres (length x width x height) and multiply by 30 to 60: that is the m³/h you need to change the air every one to two minutes. Go higher for a hot room, a long duct run or a lot of lamp heat. Then choose a carbon filter with at least that rating, and allow for the filter and ducting knocking 20 to 30 per cent off the fan's headline figure. Our fan and carbon filter sizing guide has the sums and a table by tent size.
AC or EC?
AC fans (RVK, CAN RK, Air AC, Q-Max AC) are the proven, budget choice; run them on a fan speed controller. EC fans (AC Infinity Cloudline, Rhino Ultra EC, Air EC, CAN Q-Max EC, Hyperfan, Vector, Tornado EC) have a brushless motor that turns down without humming, uses less power at low speed and works with a smart controller that holds a set temperature.
Silenced fans such as the CAN IsoMax, Rhino Ultra Silenced, Revolution Vector Silenced and Airfan box fans are cased in insulation for rooms where noise matters.
