About Base Nutrients

Which base nutrient?

Soil: Biobizz Grow and Bloom, Canna Terra, Dutchpro Original Soil A & B, Advanced Nutrients Sensi Terra, B'cuzz Soil and Intense Dirt. Soil feeds are milder and work with the life already in the soil.

Coco: Canna Coco, Advanced Nutrients Sensi Coco Grow and Bloom, Hesi Coco, House & Garden Cocos, Hydrotops Coco, B'cuzz Coco, Intense Coco and Dutchpro Original Hydro/Coco. Coco holds on to calcium and magnesium, so coco feeds carry extra of both.

Hydroponics and recirculating systems: Canna Aqua for recirculating systems and Canna Hydro for run-to-waste, House & Garden Aqua Flakes, Hydrotops Hydro, B'cuzz Hydro, Intense Hydro, FloraMax VegaFlora A & B and Athena Pro Core with Grow and Bloom.

Seedlings and cuttings: Canna Start is a gentle one-part feed for the first weeks, and Formulex is a complete feed used at low strength for young plants and mother plants.

One-part, two-part or three-part

One-bottle feeds are the simplest to use. Two-part A and B feeds keep the calcium apart from the phosphates and sulphates until they are in the tank, which lets them be stronger and more stable: add A, stir, then add B. Three-part ranges let you shift the balance between growth and bloom through the cycle.

Hard or soft water

Bristol and most of the South West have hard water. Some ranges, Dutchpro among them, are made in hard-water and soft-water versions; pick the one that matches your supply, or start from clean water with a reverse osmosis filter from our Water Filtration section.
