About Clonex & Scalpels
How to take a cutting
Take a fresh, healthy shoot with a sharp scalpel, cut just below a node at an angle, trim the lower leaves, dip the cut end into Clonex and set it in a plug. Clonex seals the cut, holds rooting hormone against the stem and feeds the new roots as they form. Use a clean blade for every batch: a dull or dirty blade crushes the stem and lets infection in.
Clonex Mist is sprayed on the cuttings and on the mother plant before and after taking them, to cut stress and speed rooting. FloraMax Cloner is a liquid alternative to the gel for dipping or for use in aeroponic cloners.
Good practice
Pour a little gel into a separate pot rather than dipping into the bottle, keep the lid on and the bottle cool, and it will last. Most cuttings root in 7 to 14 days at 22 to 26°C with high humidity under gentle light. Plugs, propagators and propagation lights are in the sections alongside this one.
