About Coco Coir
Why coco
Coco is the fastest medium short of full hydroponics. It holds water and air in a balance roots love, drains freely, re-wets easily and never compacts. Because it holds no food of its own, you feed at every watering and control exactly what the plant gets. Growth is quicker than in soil and problems are easier to correct.
Which coco?
Canna Coco Professional Plus is buffered and ready to use, the benchmark for years. Jiffy Pro7 gives a choice of pure coir or a 70/30 mix with perlite already in. Gold Label 60/40 is a clay pebble and coco mix for Autopot and flood and drain systems that need more drainage. The Ugro block expands in water to 70 litres and is the cheapest way to buy in bulk.
Feeding coco
Use a coco nutrient and add CalMag: coco holds calcium and magnesium back from the plant. Water to 10 to 20 per cent run-off so salts never build up, and keep the pH around 5.8 to 6.2.
