How to use
Hold the meter at the top of the plants, where the leaves are, and take readings across the canopy: under the centre of the light and out towards the edges. Then adjust the height, position or dimmer of the light and measure again.
- Seedlings and cuttings need much less light than plants in flower, so check again each time the plants move to a new stage.
- A reading that drops off sharply at the edges means the light is too high or too small for the space.

Questions
Why measure PAR instead of just using a lux meter?
PAR counts the light plants can use for photosynthesis. Lux is weighted to what the human eye sees, so it can mislead you, especially under LEDs.
