Description
Rockwool is produced from basalt rock, which is melted and then spun into thin fibres. These are mixed with a binding agent and compressed into slabs that are cut into the smaller cubes used for propagation. Fibres in Grodan have been spun in only one direction but Cultilene's Cultiwool propagation cubes have fibres that have been spun in two directions. This gives the cubes great flexibility and great strength when they're wet so they won't go all soggy on you.
Seasoned hydroponics experts swear by Cultilene's Cultiwool propagation cubes because of the support and good aeration properties they provide for strong root growth. A healthy root system means a healthy plant and Rockwool propagation cubes can be used with even the most fragile cultures.
Two sizes are available:
Large - measures 36mm X 36mm X 40mm
Small - measures 25mm X 25mm X 40mm
Highly recommended.

How to use
Set a cutting or seed in each one and keep them in a propagator. The cubes hold their shape when wet and give good support and aeration for new roots.
Once roots show through, the cubes drop straight into a larger rockwool transplanting cube or your chosen medium. A pH and EC meter helps set the soaking solution. More plugs are in plugs and substrates.
Questions
Which size should I choose?
Large cubes are 36 x 36 x 40 mm and come 77 to a tray; small cubes are 25 x 25 x 40 mm and come 150 to a tray. Both also come by the full box.
How are Cultilene cubes different from Grodan?
Cultilene spin the fibres in two directions rather than one, which makes the cubes flexible and strong when wet, so they do not go soggy.
