Description
Athena Balance is a good product that brings the following benefits:
- Reduces the need for pH adjustment after mixing
- Strengthens plant cells and structure
- Increases nutrient uptake
- Reduces stress
Its particularly effective when using RO (reverse osmosis) water as pure RO water has an unstable chemical structure that can lock out other nutrients when added without any pH buffer. Growers will need to buffer their water first with Athena Balance to create a stable solution to then add other nutrients into.
Suitable for use in soil, coco and hydro, and sediment-free, Athena Balance creates a more homogenous feed solution which reduces the need to pH after mixing.
Potassium silicate is known to increase phosphorus availability, helping to strengthen plants and reduce stress, whilst also helping to reduce the toxic effects of heavy metals such as manganese, iron and aluminium.
How to use:
- For use as a pH up throughout the whole lifecycle of the plant when needed, at a rate of 0.25-1ml per litre of water. Buffer the water first with Athena Balance to create a stable solution before adding other nutrients into the solution.
- Compatible with other fertilizer brands
- Unsuitable for use with Netaflex (or other electronic dosers)
Suitable for use in any growing medium.

Soluble potash (K2O) 2% derived from potassium silicate.

How to use
Add Balance to the water first, before any other nutrient, to buffer it. Then add your feed. Because the water is buffered, the mix needs less pH adjustment afterwards.
This matters most with RO (reverse osmosis) water, which has nothing in it to hold the pH steady. Use 0.25 to 1 ml per litre as needed.
- On the Athena feed chart, the Blended Balance is the pH up for batch tank mixing and Dosatron.
- For Netaflex and other electronic dosers, Athena use Pro Balance instead.
- It works with other brands of fertiliser too.
Check the pH of the finished mix with a pH meter.
Questions
Can I use Athena Balance with Netaflex?
No. It is not suitable for Netaflex or other electronic dosers. Athena's chart uses Pro Balance for those systems and the Blended Balance for batch tanks and Dosatron.
Do I need it with RO water?
It is especially useful with RO water. Buffer the water with Balance first, then add the other nutrients, so the solution is stable.
Does it only work with Athena nutrients?
No, it is compatible with other fertiliser brands.
