Description

The AutoPot 12-Pot systems are a great option for those wanting to avoid the hassle and commitment required for a hand-watering regime. These systems are best suited to fill 3-4 square metres of growing space with the upper end of that bracket best suited to the AutoPot XL system.

AutoPot systems are plant-driven, gravity-fed systems (meaning no noise from pumps or potential pump failure). The Aquavalve in each pot base will fill the tray to 20mm and then close until the tray is completely empty before refilling to 20mm, allowing every plant an essential dry period and to be fed on demand, regardless of the rest of the plants in the room.

We recommend growers use good quality soil in this system such as Plagron Lightmix or Canna Terra Professional Plus (always on around a 40-50mm bed of clay pebbles).

Available with the standard 15l square pots or the larger 25l square-to-round XL versions each system is supplied with a 225l Flexitank and all of the necessary fittings and pipework to set the system up. Both Autopot 12-Pot systems come with Iceline supply pipe to keep the nutrient temperature to a minimum whilst between the reservoir and the plant.

Plants need to be watered from the top as required for the first 7-10 days. Once the roots have had a chance to establish within the pot the tap can be turned on. It is good practice to give the 16mm filter a clean every few weeks and avoid putting any organics or viscous additives in the reservoir.

How to use

Put a 40-50 mm layer of clay pebbles in the bottom of each pot and fill with a good quality soil such as Plagron Light Mix or Canna Terra Professional Plus.

  1. Water from the top when you pot up.
  2. Keep hand-watering from the top as needed for the first 7-10 days, while the roots establish.
  3. Then turn the tap on and let the AQUAvalves take over.

Clean the 16 mm filter every few weeks, and keep organics and thick, viscous additives out of the tank. Spare pots, trays and lids are in AutoPot 15L accessories and parts; for bigger pots see the XL 12-pot system.

Questions

How much space does the 12-pot system fill?

Roughly 3 to 4 square metres. The standard 15 litre system suits the lower end; towards 4 square metres, the XL 12-pot system with its 25 litre pots will be more productive.

What should I grow in?

We recommend good quality soil, such as Plagron Light Mix or Canna Terra Professional Plus, always on a bed of clay pebbles about 40-50 mm deep.

Does it need a pump or power?

No. The system is gravity-fed and each plant's AQUAvalve controls its own watering, so there is no pump noise and no pump to fail.

When do I turn the tap on?

After the first 7-10 days. Until then, water by hand from the top so the roots establish in the pot.
